Won the Following Tournament Titles;

  • New Haven, Forest Hills, Tunica Resorts, Stockholm

  • Reached the finals in Washington

  •  Reached the Quarterfinals in Houston, Scottsdale

  • Played an Epic Quarterfinal match against Andre Agassi at the 2005 US Open

• Won the eighth USTA Pro Circuit singles title of his career in Tunica, Miss.. Defeated Brian Baker, 6-2, 6-3, in the final.

• Reached his second ATP quarterfinal of the year at Houston, falling to Nicolas Lapentti,   6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (3).

• Lost to Carlos Moya, 4-6, 7-5, 7-6 (6), in the second round of Miami.

• Advanced to the third round of Indian Wells, before falling to Fernando Gonzalez,  6-4, 0-6, 6-3.

• Was a quarterfinalist at Scottsdale... Lost to Vince Spadea, 7-6 (6), 6-1.

        • Teamed with Mardy Fish to reach the doubles quarterfinals at the Australian Open,        losing to Bob and Mike Bryan, 6-4, 6-4… In singles, fell to Lleyton Hewitt in four sets,              4-6, 7-6 (8), 6-0, 6-3, in the second round.
• Represented the United States in Hopman Cup play.


CAREER HIGHLIGHTS
2004
• Finished in the top 100 for the fourth consecutive season, despite a year plagued by injury and illness… Suffered a fractured vertebrae in his neck in a practice session in May and missed two months… Fell ill during the summer with Zoster, a condition affecting hearing and visionary senses and causing temporary paralysis on one side of his face… Played just three tournaments from July on.


• Had a strong start to the season, reaching the fourth round of the Australian Open for the second consecutive year, before losing to eventual finalist Marat Safin,                            7-6 (3), 6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-3.


• In March, reached consecutive quarterfinals in Scottsdale (lost to eventual champion Vince Spadea) and Indian Wells (defeated Radek Stepanek, Robby Ginepri, Gason Gaudio and Taylor Dent, before falling to Irakli Labadze).


• Also reached the quarterfinals in Houston, where he lost to Andrei Pavel.


• At a practice session with Robby Ginepri at the Masters Series Rome, he slipped and hit the net post, suffering a neck injury that kept him out of action until July… Returned to competitive play in Newport and reached the second round, before falling to Alex Bogomolov Jr.


• Missed the US Open because of illness and returned to action in Delray Beach after the tournament, reaching the second round… Did not play for the remainder of the year.
• In doubles, captured three titles in San Jose and Houston (with Mardy Fish) and Munich (with Mark Merklein).


2003
• Finished in the top 40 for the second straight year.


• Reached the third round of the US Open for the second straight year... Defeated Mariano Zabaleta and Sargis Sargsian in the first two rounds before falling to Roger Federer,          6-3, 7-6 (4), 6-3.


• Finished runner-up at Long Island, falling to Paradorn Srichaphan, 6-2, 6-4, in the final.


• Advanced to the round of 16 at Cincinnati, where he lost to Andy Roddick, 7-6 (2), 6-2.


• Reached the doubles quarterfinals (with Joshua Eagle) at Canada.


• Was a quarterfinalist at Washington, losing to Andre Agassi, 3-6, 7-5, 6-3.


• Reached the second round of the French Open and Wimbledon.


• Advanced to the quarterfinals at Houston... Lost to Olivier Mutis, 6-4, 6-7 (3), 6-1.


• Reached consecutive quarterfinals at Scottsdale (lost to Mariano Zabaleta) and Indian Wells (lost to Gustavo Kuerten).


• Was a semifinalist at San Jose, where he lost to Andre Agassi, 6-4, 6-2.

• Advanced to the double semifinals (with Andy Roddick) at Basle.


• Reached the quarterfinals at Vienna, defeating Vince Spadea and Nicolas Kiefer in the first two rounds before falling to Carlos Moya, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 6-1.


• Was a doubles quarterfinalist (with older brother Thomas Blake) at the Tokyo Outdoor.


• Advanced to the third round of the US Open, losing to Lleyton Hewitt in five sets, 6-7 (5), 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 6-3.


• Won his first ATP singles title at Washington... Defeated Andre Agassi, 6-3, 6-4, in the semifinals and then beat Paradorn Srichaphan, 1-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4, for the championship.


• Captured his first ATP title in doubles (with Todd Martin) in Cincinnati.


• Finished runner-up in singles at Newport, where he lost to Taylor Dent, 6-1, 4-6, 6-4, in the final… In doubles, teamed with brother Thomas to reach the semifinals.


• Reached the round of 16 in doubles (with Andrew Kratzmann) at Wimbledon.


• Fell to Sebastien Grosjean, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, 7-5, in the second round of the French Open.


• Was a quarterfinalist at Rome, losing to Jiri Novak, 3-6, 7-6 (7), 6-4.


• Advanced to the quarterfinals at Houston, falling to Andy Roddick, 6-2, 6-4.


• Reached the round of 16 at Miami, where he lost to Lleyton Hewitt, 6-4, 6-1.


• Was a quarterfinalist at San Jose, losing to Andy Roddick, 6-4, 6-2.

• Won the singles title at the Knoxville Challenger, defeating Gabriel Trifu, 6-4, 6-4, in the final.


• Reached the quarterfinals of the USTA Challenger in Tyler, Texas, falling to Noam Okun,      3-6, 6-3, 6-4.


• Finished runner-up at the Houston Challenger, where he lost to Vince Spadea,                     6-2, 6-7 (3), 6-2.


• Advanced to the semifinals of the Tokyo Outdoor, losing to Lleyton Hewitt, 6-4, 6-0.


• Fell to Lleyton Hewitt in five sets in the second round of the US Open, 6-4, 3-6, 6-2, 3-6, 6-0.


• Reached the round of 16 at Cincinnati, where he lost to Patrick Rafter, 7-6 (7), 6-2.


• Was a semifinalist at Newport... Lost to Martin Lee, 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 (5).


• Won the doubles title (with Mark Merklein) at the Birmingham Challenger… Also advanced to the singles final, falling to Irakli Labadze, 6-2, 6-3.


• Qualified into the ATP event in Houston and advanced to the second round, where he lost to Michal Tabara, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.

• Won the singles title at the Rancho Mirage Challenger... Defeated Cecil Mamiit, 3-6, 6-4, 6-2, in the final.


• Reached the doubles semifinals (with Kevin Kim) at the Las Vegas Challenger.


• Was a doubles semifinalist (with Mark Merklein) and a singles quarterfinalist at the Austin Challenger… Lost in singles to Michael Russell, 6-3, 5-7, 6-0.

• Reached the quarterfinals of the Urbana Challenger, where he lost to Julian Knowle, 7-6, 6-3.


• Won consecutive USTA Futures titles in November... Defeated Eric Taino, 6-4, 6-7, 7-6, in the final of the Clearwater, Fla., Futures and Simon Larose, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, in the final of the Grenelefe, Fla., Futures.


• Finished runner-up in doubles (with Thomas Blake) at the Tulsa Challenger.


• As a qualifier, reached the semifinals of the Binghamton Challenger... Lost to Anthony Dupuis, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3.


• Won the doubles title (with Thomas Blake) at the Winnetka Challenger.


• Won the singles title at the ITF Futures event in Montreal, Canada, defeating Paul Hanley, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, in the final… Also reached the doubles semifinals (with Thomas Blake).
